Luanne & Daniel / Hamptons Wedding

0 Comments/ in weddings / by admin

Luanne and Daniel’s Hampton’s wedding was recently featured on Well Wed Magazine’s blog, so we thought we would share a few more from this couple’s art-deco & 1920′s inspired celebration! We loved our time in the Hamptons, and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Lu & Dan’s families. Jewish weddings are a blast to photograph, with all of their ceremonies throughout the day & opportunities for group celebration, and we were there to catch it all from the Tisch & Bedecken to the Ketubah signing and their modern ceremony & reception!  Everything was held at the groom’s family’s home in Bridgehampton, and Luanne did an amazing job of designing the whole yard for a Gatsby-eque garden party. To top it all off, Luanne had a great idea for a twenties-inspired photobooth. After some collaboration, we created our first-ever “man-in-the-moon” photobooth, which was definitely a hit!

Nicole + John / Portland Wedding

0 Comments/ in weddings / by admin

We love living in a region where it’s easy get out in country surrounded by nature for the afternoon, and then dine on amazing local food in the city later that same evening.  John and Nicole’s unique celebration followed this format, starting with a ceremony at Oregon’s Champoeg State Park in the Willamette Valley followed by a rooftop reception and family-style dinner in downtown Portland at the Ecotrust Building. These contrasting settings were inspired by a desire to blend the backgrounds of this couple, and a bit of family history. Nicole’s parents met 30 years earlier at the exact spot of the wedding ceremony, and Nicole & John now call Portland home.  She was raised in a small town near Champoeg, and John in the city. They also wanted to celebrate this best-of-both-worlds vibe that Portland does so well.

As for that canoe, if you get married at one of Oregon’s most historic sites, you may just have to get your explorer-pose on (thanks to some generous local boaters passing by)!

Photographing Kasey & Jeff amidst the beauty of this stark Oregon desert landscape was worth battling the over-100-degree heat! Their wedding took place on Kasey’s parent’s ranch near Rufus, Oregon.

Emily + Casey / Fort Vancouver Wedding

Emily & Casey are two of the most exuberant & fun-loving people we have ever met, and their wedding at Ft. Vancouver’s Marshall House reflected this in every way.  These two know how to have fun!  They celebrated at a charming & colorful backyard reception that included hula-hooping, a rockin’ photobooth, and lots of noisemakers on the dance-floor!

Kate + Steffen

Kate & Steffen’s wedding re-affirmed my belief that trust is one of the most important elements in wedding photography. Although we met face-to-face for the first time just days before their wedding, we immediately connected and I could feel how excited they were for the images we were about to create together. They reiterated that they had spent a lot of time searching for the right photographer and were so excited to be working with me.  After that meeting, I knew that I had their complete trust.

I am not writing this to sound like an arrogant, over-inflated egotist.  In fact, it’s quite the opposite.  I’m extremely humbled when a couple chooses to work with us out of all of the talented photographers in our area, and am honored each and every time we get to document this single day that they will remember for the rest of their lives. The fact that someone is entrusting us with such an important moment is a big deal, and being able to feel that trust is so important to creating meaningful, genuine images.  So, Kate & Steffen, thank you for that trust.

Catie + Greg

The best way I can describe Catie & Greg’s wedding is as a rustic-yet-elegant Oregon garden party with a bit of Scottish flair (we really loved the inventive thistle-accented floral arrangements from Creations by Ly). All stylistic descriptions aside, the true focus was on what really counts . . . a beautiful and intimate gathering to celebrate this couple and their life together.

Erin + Brian

0 Comments/ in publicity, weddings / by admin

The latest issue of Oregon Bride Magazine has just been released, and we’re excited to have Erin & Brian’s wedding featured there!  This Southern Oregon Coast wedding was truly unique–3 days of fun, relaxation, & celebration.  Although they’re from Portland (and also, lucky for us, happen to be our neighbors), Erin’s family has deep roots in Bandon, OR, so the spot made perfect sense for an intimate wedding weekend focused on their closest friends and family.  Brian is also an avid (and impressive) golfer, and the close access to world-class courses nearby also helped sway their decision.

Kick-off for the weekend festivities started with a karaoke night at a local bar, where Erin & her talented friends let loose on some classic 80′s duets.  Honestly, the vocal talent present had all the local heads turning. Erin has been singing in Portland bands, most notably with the Stolen Sweets, for the past decade and many of their guests are accomplished musicians.  Needless to say, they rocked the house.  The next day, after guests spent the morning and afternoon beachcombing, kite-flying, or hitting the links, the parents of the bride hosted a crab-feed dinner for everyone, complete with an FS Photobooth (nautically themed, of couse).

The wedding ceremony on the third and final day was held at Bullards Beach State Park, just across the bay from Bandon, within view of the area’s historic lighthouse. A chorus of kazoos humming “here comes the bride” led the way while Erin and her father walked down the isle, guests sipped champagne, and the couple said their vows under a driftwood “fort” built by some ambitious-yet-anonymous beach-goers.  Their attire–a 60′s era dress & three-piece-suit–was completely vintage and found by the bride. If you like their look, be sure to check out Erin’s carefully curated collection of vintage dresses & accessories at her shop, Lodekka, in Portland.  After a laid-back dinner reception downtown, most of the party moved on to a beach-house for a sunset bonfire and acoustic sing-a-long to close out the evening. By the end of the weekend, many new friendships were formed and everyone was honored that they were able to spend the time celebrating Erin & Brian. Thanks for having us there to document it!

In April, we had the honor of returning to New York to photograph Kara & Darius’ Central Park wedding at the Loeb Boathouse! It’s always an exciting and refreshing change of pace for us to photograph in the heart of NYC. With clear skies & mild temperatures, the weather was perfect for an afternoon in the park!
