Over the past year, we have had the opportunity to shoot a number of weddings at the Silcox Hut on Mt. Hood. The uniqueness of this venue seems to be a magnet for fabulous weddings that share a similar recipe of wonderful people, intimate ceremonies, and charming, thoughtful details. Molly & Tyler’s February wedding definitely fit the bill! Some of their stand-out details included Molly wearing her grandmother’s fur wrap (which came in very handy for those outdoor photos!), cowbells for the guests to ring for after their first-kiss (a nod to the bride’s ski-racing days), and delicious macaroons nestled in individual glass jars at each place setting.
The intimacy of Silcox Hut is palpable, with everyone present feeling like an honored guest. It is hard to describe the feeling of a small group of family and friends gathered cozily together on the side of a mountain to celebrate a couple’s love and commitment to each other. We hope these photos capture a bit of that essence. Molly & Tyler explained it well when, making a toast to their guests at the evening’s end, they stated that everyone present was there for a reason and that they looked forward those continued relationships as they begin this new chapter in their lives together. It is a sentiment shared at many weddings, yet feels particularly genuine in this spectacular setting.

I would love to take these for a spin someday . . . preferably in powder.

It is almost time to share another gorgeous winter wedding on Mt. Hood at the Silcox Hut! Here is a quick preview of a few of the many amazing aspects of Molly & Tyler’s celebration. It was a bit cold and windy (ok, it was really cold and windy–my fingers went numb quickly!), but the sun was shining and we just had to get outside for a few photos. The ceremony ended just before sunset, as we rushed outside to capture an image with this beautiful couple on top of the world!

Head on over to the website of one of Oregon’s most unique hotels, Timberline Lodge, to check out our work on their homepage! We have two featured images from Matt and Logan’s amazing mountain wedding in their rotating banner: an image of Silcox Hut at night and an image of the beautiful couple together in the fresh mountain air! If you are looking for a unique wedding venue that screams “Oregon!” , be sure to check out Timberline. From mountainside gatherings in the Silcox Hut to fireside ceremonies in the main lodge it is a great way to celebrate.

We are so grateful be able to kick off our 2010 weddings with a couple like Ashley & Elliot! Their joy was palpable to everyone around them as Elliot kept everyone laughing and Ashley absolutely glowed with excitement. They chose the North Star Ballroom as their venue for it’s vintage charm and wonderful textures. Luckily it stayed dry enough for us to have some fun outside around it’s beautiful brick walls (see Elliot jumping for joy later in the post)! Thank you to you both for choosing us to document your day!

The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine just released it’s 2008-2009 Annual Report, and Ryan was the primary photographer for the project (shooting the larger portraits for the features & interviews, as well a lot of acupuncture!) We have worked with OCOM for the past few years now and everyone–from the staff to the students–are always a pleasure to photograph. Plus, we have learned a bit about acupuncture and Chinese medicine through the process! For this project we had the opportunity to photograph businesses and individuals throughout the local community who are connected with OCOM. Check out the report by clicking the link below, and read a few of the testimonials–if you are ever in need of acupuncture, or just want to try it, their clinic is a great resource!

This is the 5th and final post from Angela & Bryan’s fabulous wedding celebration in Mexico’s Riviera Maya! We have already blogged about shooting under-the-radar at midnight in their hotel pool, Angela’s stunning bridal portraits, their sunset beach wedding ceremony, and photographing at night around Playa Del Carmen following the ceremony. After all of the festivities, we took a few days to relax and found ourselves outside the tiny village of Akumal, about 2 hours south of Cancun, snorkeling with turtles and stingrays in the surrounding lagoons. Bryan & Angela came out to meet us one afternoon and we took a few hours for a trash-the-dress session with a dress that Angela picked up for a bargain!
Yes, it is almost their first anniversary but it has been fun and tantalizing for these Portland photographers to revisit these images. Please enjoy the photos below, but if you are viewing from here in the Northwest we suggest you refrain from visiting any airline or travel-related websites for at least a day or so to avoid making any rash decisions to get out of town!

This shot is a fairly accurate depiction of the awesomeness from Ashley & Elliot’s wedding last weekend–Elliot being hilarious (err . . . suave) & Ashley cracking up! The beautiful vintage touches they brought to the North Star Ballroom, and their loving family and friends also made for an awesome day. We think it was a great way to kick off our 2010 weddings!

Even under the sometime-rainy skies of Portland, pedicabs are a great way to get around town on your wedding day! If you are planning a downtown wedding, consider using pedicabs for your own transportation or even for your guests. They give a great look to your photos, and can help maximize your time giving you more options for locations!
For their October wedding, Emily and Brian used PDX Pedicab to travel to and from their wedding at the Classical Chinese Garden.
