We can only hope that Emily & Richard make their home in Portland one day. This lovely couple chose our awesome city as the place for their intimate destination wedding. They loved the laid-back nature and access to open space that it would provide for their weekend celebration with friends and family from across the states, and as far away as Chile. After preparations and portraits at Hotel Modera downtown, everyone bussed to Laurelhurst Park for an intimate ceremony under the trees and then headed back downtown for dinner and dancing at Andina. If you are going to spend a day in Portland to celebrate your marriage, that’s not a bad way to do it! They were such fun to work with that it was hard to see them return home to Chicago!
The Evergreen is a new event space in Portland that has been beautifully restored by the Chefstable restaurant group. We recently collaborated with a fabulously talented group of vendors for a “modern-romance” themed inspiration shoot. The venue itself is the perfect balance of historic architecture and modern details. The bridal-room they have created is our new favorite in Portland, thanks to it’s mod-style and thoughtful design touches. We can’t wait to shoot there again! A huge thank-you goes out to everyone involved in this project, especially Rachel Coddington from the Evergreen and the ladies behind Brightnight Design for the concept and production help.
This intimate holiday fireside wedding at Timberline Lodge was the coziest event of the year! However, before the coziness ensued, we braved the elements for some photos in the winter-wonderland landscape of Mt. Hood. Lucky for me, Valerie and Damen were excited to get outside for photos in the snow, and we tromped around the lodge taking advantage of the contrasting textures and soft light. It was such an honor to be a part of this intimate gathering of friends and family and document the start of this couple’s married life together. Read more →
Maysara Winery may just be our new favorite spot for Oregon weddings. It is by far one of the most unique properties we have photographed. The Momtazi family has built an amazing structure and are the perfect hosts for some amazing events. We were so honored to photograph John and Courtney’s wedding there. They are such a caring, laid-back couple. We had a great time exploring the winery with them and documenting their celebration. To top it off, we had an exceptional vendor team for this one!
Where to begin? It has been an absolute honor to get to know Kim & Luke. These are two seriously fun-loving, genuine, and caring people! With a great vendor team & a typically stunning summer day in the Gorge, being able to document their love for each other and their family and friends in such an amazing setting was a pleasure.
Katherine & Jake met on the ski team while attending university in Virginia. Well, technically, Katherine was on the ski team & Jake was on the snowboard team. Perhaps there was a bit of the “opposites-attract” rule in effect? When it came time to plan their wedding, they knew they wanted a destination event where they could not only celebrate with their family & friends, but also spend time riding the mountain with them as well. Mt. Hood and the Silcox Hut were a perfect choice.
It was refreshing to see the excitement & passion that this couple holds for each other and the sport that brought them together. We local Northwesterners are quick to bemoan the absence of snow during a lackluster winter like this one. Being around Katherine, Jake, and their families reminded me that it’s not the conditions that matter so much as the enjoyment you get from the activity and those that you share it with. Thanks for the reminder you two, and thank for choosing me to document this time in your lives!
We are thrilled to have Suzette & Jonathan’s Leftbank Annex wedding featured in the latest issue of Oregon Bride Magazine! After spending time with this couple at their home for their San Francisco engagement session, it was exciting to introduce them to our city and help it play a visual role for their Portland destination wedding. Katy with Bridal Bliss did an amazing job coordinating everything between their preparations downtown, traditional mass at the Grotto, and a party that culminated with a late-night visit from some of Portland’s best food-trucks.

Hailing from our sister city on the eastern seaboard, Nicole & Ian planned an intimate destination wedding in downtown Portland. These Brooklynites said their vows on the roof-top deck at Ecotrust in front of a small gathering of family & friends. Before their ceremony, we took a stroll through downtown visiting a few well-known landmarks & discovering others with a little ice-cream break in between. Their casual style and relaxed nature made for an ultra-fun shoot and a fantastic wedding!
With an orchard ceremony, a beautifully slow sunset, and dancing into the twilight & under the stars, Kelsey & Tyler’s wedding was the epitome of a mid-summer Oregon celebration. The wedding took place at a private family home just outside Portland, with a perfect balance of country close to the city. A big thanks to Roger Porter for shooting with me.
