Out soaking up the sun & exploring some of our favorite spots on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge.
A Texan girl meets a Northeast boy and they set out for a life of adventure together in the Pacific Northwest . . . Jen and Seth spend a lot of their free time exploring the mountains, beaches and forests of their new home, so it was a natural choice to head out to the Columbia River Gorge for their engagement photos. We visited some well-known landmarks, as well as a few off-the-beaten path favorites, and it was so much fun to share this unique landscape with these new friends!
Where to begin? It has been an absolute honor to get to know Kim & Luke. These are two seriously fun-loving, genuine, and caring people! With a great vendor team & a typically stunning summer day in the Gorge, being able to document their love for each other and their family and friends in such an amazing setting was a pleasure.
I absolutely love it when couples are up for mixing a little adventure into their shoot! Kim & Luke had scoped out Oneonta Gorge as the location for their engagement session, which is always worth a visit. After shooting at the gorge and nearby tunnel, I suggested a nearby spot that I wanted to explore but didn’t have much experience with. These two were totally up for the adventure, and it turned out beautifully! At the end of our time at Oneonta the day turned dark & dreary, which had me a bit worried on the way to our next spot. Lucky for us, the sky parted on the horizon just before sunset and gave us some brilliant light. After this adventure, I’m super excited to document them as they embark on their next one this Summer!
The Crag Rats Hut is a wonderful place for an intimate wedding in Hood River, if you don’t mind being surrounded by orchards with an amazing view. On one of the hottest days of the year, Erin & Brian celebrated with their friends and family and danced the night away as the sun slowly sank behind Mt. Hood.
Kevin & Alyson had a beautiful wedding celebration at Gorge Crest, with amazing views, lots of love, and quite a few fancy hats! (not to mention some amazing food & music) A huge thanks goes out to Aaron Courter for shooting this with me and capturing some great moments.
Celebrating your marriage as a mid-summer moon rises above Mt. Hood in the middle of the Columbia River Gorge is just as amazing as it sounds. Melissa, Ethan, their family and friends, were wonderful to work with and a joy to photograph!
Kate & Steffen’s wedding re-affirmed my belief that trust is one of the most important elements in wedding photography. Although we met face-to-face for the first time just days before their wedding, we immediately connected and I could feel how excited they were for the images we were about to create together. They reiterated that they had spent a lot of time searching for the right photographer and were so excited to be working with me. After that meeting, I knew that I had their complete trust.
I am not writing this to sound like an arrogant, over-inflated egotist. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I’m extremely humbled when a couple chooses to work with us out of all of the talented photographers in our area, and am honored each and every time we get to document this single day that they will remember for the rest of their lives. The fact that someone is entrusting us with such an important moment is a big deal, and being able to feel that trust is so important to creating meaningful, genuine images. So, Kate & Steffen, thank you for that trust.
Venue: Bridal Veil Lakes
Meahan & Dianne had a late-Summer wedding overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. Although clouds & forest fires hid Mt. Hood for part of the day, the view from Gorge Crest Farms was still stunning. We really enjoyed getting to know these two lovely ladies & seeing all the heart & soul they put into planning this day. It was particularly wonderful to see their families come together to celebrate their relationship. Everyone got a long so well and genuinely enjoyed each other so much that it was hard at times to tell which side of the family they belonged to, which is what a wedding is really all about!
Heather & Ryan’s wedding took place at one of our favorite outdoor venues in Oregon (which is saying a lot, given the number of outstanding options for outdoor weddings around here!) Bridal Veil Lakes is a rustic spot tucked away in the forest of the Columbia River Gorge, yet is it just minutes from downtown Portland. It’s a great place to showcase the natural beauty of our area to out-of-state friends and family, yet still be close to the city. Beauty was in full abundance for Ryan & Heather as forest fires nearby (but not too nearby!) created a fine haze in the sky & gorgeous light all day! We even had the chance to head over to Crown Point before the ceremony for photos with the bride & groom, and a great view of the Gorge.
