Rebecca & Michael had a touching ceremony, with a few non-traditional twists, on a gorgeous July day at Bridal Veil Lakes. They greeted guests with a cocktail hour as they arrived, and in-lieu of a wedding party, had three different couples share some words of wisdom during the ceremony. It was a beautiful start to this new stage in their relationship & the surroundings were equally amazing!
Jen & Seth are the perfect example of two creative individuals coming together to form one amazing couple. Building on their creative strengths, they brought many thoughtful touches to this endearing celebration. Jen is a talented graphic designer and designed all of the paper goods, from their save-the-dates to the menus for dinner. Seth is an industrial designer & engineering wizard who created and built one of the coolest features for a wedding that we have encountered in quite a while: a wooden geometric sculpture that served as the backdrop for their head table (as well as an excellent photo background). It was an honor to document the wedding of this dynamic duo in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge!
A Texan girl meets a Northeast boy and they set out for a life of adventure together in the Pacific Northwest . . . Jen and Seth spend a lot of their free time exploring the mountains, beaches and forests of their new home, so it was a natural choice to head out to the Columbia River Gorge for their engagement photos. We visited some well-known landmarks, as well as a few off-the-beaten path favorites, and it was so much fun to share this unique landscape with these new friends!
Where to begin? It has been an absolute honor to get to know Kim & Luke. These are two seriously fun-loving, genuine, and caring people! With a great vendor team & a typically stunning summer day in the Gorge, being able to document their love for each other and their family and friends in such an amazing setting was a pleasure.
Katherine & Jake met on the ski team while attending university in Virginia. Well, technically, Katherine was on the ski team & Jake was on the snowboard team. Perhaps there was a bit of the “opposites-attract” rule in effect? When it came time to plan their wedding, they knew they wanted a destination event where they could not only celebrate with their family & friends, but also spend time riding the mountain with them as well. Mt. Hood and the Silcox Hut were a perfect choice.
It was refreshing to see the excitement & passion that this couple holds for each other and the sport that brought them together. We local Northwesterners are quick to bemoan the absence of snow during a lackluster winter like this one. Being around Katherine, Jake, and their families reminded me that it’s not the conditions that matter so much as the enjoyment you get from the activity and those that you share it with. Thanks for the reminder you two, and thank for choosing me to document this time in your lives!
The Crag Rats Hut is a wonderful place for an intimate wedding in Hood River, if you don’t mind being surrounded by orchards with an amazing view. On one of the hottest days of the year, Erin & Brian celebrated with their friends and family and danced the night away as the sun slowly sank behind Mt. Hood.
The recent return of rain here in western Oregon seems an appropriate time to share this wonderful Columbia Gorge wedding at Gorge Crest Vineyards. Historically, the weather towards the end of September can go either way. If the sun is out, it is one of the most beautiful times of the year here, but the chance that it will be stormy is just as strong as the chance for sunny skies–and sometimes we have both in the same day.
Although there wasn’t much rain on Matt & Katie’s wedding day, the majority of it fell during the ceremony, starting with impeccable timing right as the bride walked down the isle. In true Oregonian spirit, they embraced the crazy weather and the harder it rained, the larger their smiles became. Everyone reveled in their joy & the visceral experience of sitting in the rain watching storm clouds roll over the Columbia river and the mountain range beyond.
That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the day, and it was an awesome celebration! I particularly loved the dramatic skies we were able to capture for our “sunset” photos. A big thanks to Roger Porter for photographing with me & putting up with a bit of drizzle.
This Columbia River Gorge wedding at Husum Highlands B&B included all of the best aspects of the Gorge: a beautiful country setting, orchards, sweeping mountain views, good food & drink, and plenty of sunshine! When I first met Katie & Joe, we instantly bonded over our mutual love for this landscape and all that comes with it. (Including all of the awesome outdoor recreation!) It was an honor to document their wedding in this place that is so meaningful to both of us. We kept joking with each that we may end up neighbors in the Gorge one day, and I don’t think that’s too far of a stretch of the imagination. Let’s just say we wouldn’t be disappointed if that happened!
Lisa & Matthew travelled from San Francisco all the way to the top of Mt. Hood (literally—Matthew & his groomsmen almost made it to the summit the day before the wedding) to celebrate their marriage with family and friends. We photograph quite a few weddings at Timberline Lodge, and this one is the winner for the most incredible men’s-detail: Matthew commissioned a silver-smith in Montana to create he and the groomsmen’s belt buckles with the Timberline logo! These gentlemen perfectly pulled off the rodeo-buckle/fine-suit combo. Trend-alert!
