There were a few touches of green at Vivian & Brian’s St. Patricks Day wedding, but mostly just radiant blue & sparkling white.
Hannah & Sam experienced the best combination of mountain weather for their wedding at Timberline Lodge. A major storm hit night before, leaving massive amounts of snow clinging to the lodge and the trees, but by morning the skies were sparkling blue. Not a bad start for this great couple!
Yes, Brandon & Stephanie chose a stunning venue for their wedding (Mt. Hood Organic Farms is one of our favorites); yes, nearly every detail was lovingly thought out and designed by the couple; and yes, the food was amazing (more on that later). Despite these things, the most memorable part of this wedding was the pure joy that emanated from this couple the entire day–infusing every inch of their ceremony and celebration with a palpable enthusiasm. We see grooms shed a tear or two now and then, but it was really touching to see the tears welling up in Brandon’s eyes while he was hanging out with his groomsmen, well before the ceremony and seeing his bride.
Back to the food. Mt. Hood Organic Farms prides itself on preparing delicious fresh, local foods yet this wedding took that locavore concept one step further. The bride and groom grew nearly all the fruits & vegetables on the menu on their small farm outside Portland. We had the opportunity to meet them there for a photo session earlier in the Summer, and it was awesome to see all their hard work savored by their close friends and family. I could go on about how much we enjoyed shooting this wedding, but will let the photos tell the rest of the story . . .
It’s no secret that we love shooting weddings at Mt. Hood. There are some amazingly beautiful wedding venues in the area. Plus where else can you get married in mid-summer & go skiing in the morning!? (or hiking, golfing, windsurfing, etc…) Lily & Sam’s wedding was held at Mt. Hood Skibowl, and was a perfect venue for this fun easy-going couple. In addition to enjoying an incredible view of the mountains, guests got to choose between taking the chair-lift or the alpine-slide (think concrete luge) from the ceremony site to the reception! (Hiking the ski resort’s trails or catching the shuttle van were also an option.)
Lily & Sam had an amazing team of vendors, and some of our favorites! Nadia with Creations by Ly did the planning, and Mr. Travis Shields artfully captured the day on video. DJ Gray Matter kept the party rocking with a tightly-curated and endless selection of tunes that you can’t help but dance to.
One of the best surprises for us was the location they chose for their preparations. They rented the modernist-yet-rustic Mule Deer Cabin in Government Camp as a home-base for their wedding party for the weekend. It was photographer’s dream with great light, gorgeous furniture, and tons of thoughtful design details. Seriously, if you are considering a getaway on Mt. Hood at any time of the year, check out the Mule Deer!

Jenny & Steve were married at one of our favorite Mt. Hood area venues, Mt. Hood Bed & Breakfast. Fabulous food, lawn games, and a margarita big enough to serve the entire wedding party made for an awesome day. Plus, their make-your-own-trail-mix bar may be the best reason ever to have a wedding near the mountains!

This was our final wedding of the winter at the Silcox Hut. Unbelievably, most of our shoots up at Silcox this year have had sun–a rarity on Mt. Hood in the winter! The weather was so nice on this day in March, we spent a lot of time outside with the couple & were even able to do family group shots outside with some lighting setup. Go Oregon!
We had a marvelous winter shooting up at Timberline Lodge, and Dusty & Jay’s wedding was no exception. It was full of the usual snow, ice, laughter, & tears plus one of the more unique details we experienced this winter–a shot-ski straight out of the 80′s… instant party!
As Katie’s father shared during his toast, everyone was a bit surprised when this D.C. couple chose Timberline Lodge for their winter destination wedding. After playing in the snow on Mt. Hood and enjoying the unique Northwest vibe of the lodge, everyone seemed to agree it was the perfect choice. Their wedding day was the culmination of a week of great times with family & friends, and we were so happy to be there to capture it!
