It was truly an honor to be a part of this celebration! Molly & Alec are two of the most genuinely caring people we have met, and that was only backed up with the love shown them by their family and friends on their wedding day. Plus, the luxurious-yet-rustic setting of Brasada Ranch never disappoints!
These classically-trained musicians from the East Coast created a beautifully simple and unique wedding celebration for their family and friends at Sunriver, Oregon. Their morning ceremony at Sunriver Community Bible church was followed by a brunch-reception full of delicious goodness from Tate & Tate Catering in Bend. Everything was expertly organized by Mallory with Mint Event Coordination & Design.
Our favorite part of the day came after the couple departed from the reception. We had discussed a few options for portraits near Sunriver, but the couple decided on the more adventurous choice of a short hike up to Todd Lake just outside of town. (Yes, please!) It was a beautiful afternoon with sun, a light breeze, and vistas of the Cascades spreading beyond the tall firs.
Cameron is also a top-contender for our best-dress of the year award with her lovely BHLDN gown. The minimalist back, and simple design compliments her natural beauty so well! This was such a refreshing wedding to photograph, and we feel honored to have witnessed this day for such a sweet couple.
Meredith and Luke gathered their family and friends for a destination wedding at one of our favorite venues, House on Metolius. Nestled between a canyon and a meadow on the edge of the Metolius River in the middle of the Oregon Cascades, it is such a magical spot and a natural choice for bringing loved ones together for a multi-day celebration. The day of the wedding was stormy with passing rain showers, but this outdoors-loving couple didn’t mind one bit–Meredith really wanted some photos in the river, so just before sunset we took off for the river bank under stormy skies and made it happen. We love working with couples with such an adventurous attitude!
Spring delivered a fresh blanket of snow for this session with Lauren & Andrew at Mt. Bachelor. Which is awesome, because that is the one request they had for this shoot (thank-you Mother Nature)! We also explored Bend’s Shevlin Park underneath the towering pines and enjoyed an awesome afternoon in the beauty of Central Oregon.
Margaret & Jeremiah’s beautiful wedding at the luxurious & rustic House on Metolius was recently featured on Style Me Pretty, and we just had to share a little more about this fabulous wedding. House on Metolius is one of the most magical venues we have every experienced, and the energy between this couple, and the love that surrounded them, was no less magical. Set in the heart of Oregon’s Central Cascades, the House on Metolius is actually a historic ranch property on the banks of the Metolius River, which springs out of the ground at it’s source just a few miles from the wedding site. The property includes both rustic cabins and a gorgeous prairie-style main lodge where the wedding party and guests spent the entire weekend hiking, fishing, and relaxing with awesome views of Mt. Jefferson.
The wedding day itself was an intensely personal celebration, with a small group gathered in a field on the banks of the river & the resident cattle herd listening in the distance (which is just what Margaret wanted!). Everything was imbued with the couple’s DIY aesthetic and their love of all things local and Northwest. The father of the bride made a dozen blackberry pies the morning of the wedding, with his own perfected recipe. The bride hand-sewed many of the decorations. A mid-summer supper was served family-style on a rickety deck jutting over the river, and everyone danced the night away under the stars!
Although they planned for snow, Mary Beth & Brian were greeted with sunny skies and mild temperatures for their mountain winter wedding in the Central Oregon Cascades. This rustic lodge setting is beautiful regardless of if it is blanketed in white or not!
After posting a few photos from this wedding, and seeing it featured on The Wedding Chicks blog, we still feel like it deserves a more comprehensive post. So please excuse the tardiness of this post, but we feel it is well worth the wait! There were so many awesome details from this wedding that we had to share some more. From the Ketubah (designed by the groom) to the Kid’s Room, Katie and David make one awesome design team when they put their heads together! In addition to all the wonderful details, they couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting: as they stood before their family and friends, the sun set behind the Cascade Mountains, filling the sky with a warm glow. The celebration that followed was equally as warm with a roaring fire, s’mores, and a lot of dancing!
