Margaret + Jeremiah / House on Metolius Wedding

0 Comments/ in Central Oregon Wedding Photographer, publicity, weddings / by Ryan

Margaret & Jeremiah’s beautiful wedding at the luxurious & rustic House on Metolius was recently featured on Style Me Pretty, and we just had to share a little more about this fabulous wedding. House on Metolius is one of the most magical venues we have every experienced, and the energy between this couple, and the love that surrounded them, was no less magical. Set in the heart of Oregon’s Central Cascades, the House on Metolius is actually a historic ranch property on the banks of the Metolius River, which springs out of the ground at it’s source just a few miles from the wedding site. The property includes both rustic cabins and a gorgeous prairie-style main lodge where the wedding party and guests spent the entire weekend hiking, fishing, and relaxing with awesome views of Mt. Jefferson.

The wedding day itself was an intensely personal celebration, with a small group gathered in a field on the banks of the river & the resident cattle herd listening in the distance (which is just what Margaret wanted!). Everything was imbued with the couple’s DIY aesthetic and their love of all things local and Northwest. The father of the bride made a dozen blackberry pies the morning of the wedding, with his own perfected recipe. The bride hand-sewed many of the decorations. A mid-summer supper was served family-style on a rickety deck jutting over the river, and everyone danced the night away under the stars!

Casie + Ian / Rustic DIY Ranch Wedding

0 Comments/ in weddings / by Ryan

Getting married during the biggest storm of the year should be a sign of good-luck, in our opinion. It certainly did not stop Casie & Ian from pulling off an amazing wedding. Their original plan to marry in the field shown below, was thwarted by torrential rains, and after some quick creative thinking (and a lot of hard work from friends and family present) they changed their plans to a cozy, intimate cabin ceremony. They exchanged their vows in front of the woodstove, as the rains played a tune on the metal roof above. It all turned out perfectly, and their dinner inside the ranch cook-house looked amazing thanks to the talents of Jessika at Lucky Heart Events. She and Casie spent hours putting together all the DIY touches including herb-infused salts and sugar for the guests, glittery-dipped feathers, lots of miniature golden figurines, and the outstanding brooch bouquet. Their rustic decor was a great fit for the space, and help lend a warm glow to the evening as the storm continued outside. Lucky for us, it subsided enough to get outside for a few photos and allowed the couple to plan the tree they had planned on for the original ceremony.

A big thank-you goes out to Michael Rowley who shot this with me, ran a killer photobooth, and even helped extract a certain vehicle from it’s muddy resting place.

Venue: Flying Horseshoe Ranch

Emily & Casey featured on the Wedding Chicks.

0 Comments/ in publicity / by Ryan

The scorchingly-hot & joyously-colorful wedding of Casey & Emily that we photographed last summer at Ft. Vancouver was recently featured by The Wedding Chicks.  Of course, this isn’t nearly as exciting as the news that this awesome couple just welcomed their new daughter into the world! We’re pretty fond of this dynamic duo, and so happy for them to start their family!

There was a great team of vendors that helped to make this wedding happen, in addition to all of the work put in by Emily, Casey, and their friends and family. Watertown Films created a beautiful film, which you can check out here. Coordination & event planning was provided by Carolyn of Canova Design. The bride’s hair & makeup was done by the lovely Stephanya Portukalian, and Jesse & Shawn with Event Team Entertainment pumped everyone up and brought the house down as usual.

If you like this couple’s style, you can view our entire blog post of their wedding or see them wading through frigid waters on Sauvie Island for a truly one-of-a-kind engagement session.

Emily + Casey / Fort Vancouver Wedding

Emily & Casey are two of the most exuberant & fun-loving people we have ever met, and their wedding at Ft. Vancouver’s Marshall House reflected this in every way.  These two know how to have fun!  They celebrated at a charming & colorful backyard reception that included hula-hooping, a rockin’ photobooth, and lots of noisemakers on the dance-floor!

Heidi + Jonnathan / Postlewait’s Country Wedding

0 Comments/ in weddings / by Ryan

Heidi & Jonnathan’s wedding was full of DIY flourishes that enhanced the already charming setting at Postlewait’s Farm. The bride made many of the decorations as well as some really cool clutch’s for her bridesmaids to carry instead of a traditional bouquet.   To see more of her big ideas and creative designs, check out her blog: Unabashed Bliss. It was a gorgeous day for a celebration under the towering oak trees, surrounded by the fields of the Willamette Valley. We were even treated to an amazing sunset, complete with rainbow to round out the evening!

Katie + David | Brasada Ranch Wedding

2 Comments/ in Central Oregon Wedding Photographer, weddings / by Ryan

After posting a few photos from this wedding, and seeing it featured on The Wedding Chicks blog, we still feel like it deserves a more comprehensive post.  So please excuse the tardiness of this post, but we feel it is well worth the wait! There were so many awesome details from this wedding that we had to share some more. From the Ketubah (designed by the groom) to the Kid’s Room,  Katie and David make one awesome design team when they put their heads together! In addition to all the wonderful details, they couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting: as they stood before their family and friends, the sun set behind the Cascade Mountains, filling the sky with a warm glow. The celebration that followed was equally as warm with a roaring fire, s’mores, and a lot of dancing!
