Friends & family from around the country convened in the Columbia River Gorge to celebrate the marriage of Scott & Margi! Their wedding and celebration took place at Mt. Hood Organic Farms, a beautiful venue in the heart of one of our favorite locations in the state–the upper Hood River Valley!
Many of the details from their day highlight the very best of Oregon and say a lot about this couple’s commitment to environmental sustainability in both their personal and professional lives. There were many local & regional touches planned into the day that we are excited to share! The delicious locavore dinner included loads of summer goodness from small farms in the area, and many of the flowers were harvested from the venue itself. Scott even brewed up 4 different batches of beer for the occasion! For favors, the couple picked three of their favorite environmental charities and supplied rustic wood tokens to represent donations made in their guests’ honor. To top it all off, they had one of the most original and awesome “guestbooks” we have ever seen! Have you ever signed a pair of antique skis at a wedding!?
We were so honored to be able to capture this special wedding, and we hope you enjoy the images as much as we loved making them!
Portland’s Classical Chinese Garden, a beautiful setting for any event, was particularly enchanting this October evening. Amidst an intimate gathering of family and friends, Emily and Brian shared their vows with each other just after sunset, under the glow of handmade paper lanterns from local artisans at the Hi-Hi Gallery. We started the day photographing at Hotel Lucia, then hailed a few pedicabs to travel to the Gardens in true Portland style.
We hope you enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed being a part of this beautiful wedding!
This post takes us back to the spring snows on Mt. Hood for Matt & Logan’s wedding at Timberline’s Silcox Hut. There were so many amazing details and stunning photos of the couple spread out over multiple blog posts that we did not get around to properly wrapping it all up. The photos below give you a glimpse of the glorious weather Matt and Logan awoke to on the morning after their wedding.
After a non-traditional send off involving snowballs in lieu of rice or bubbles (this was a complete surprise to the bride and groom, of course!), Matt & Logan took off down the mountain for their first ski–the first of many bluebird days together!
Martin & Miki wanted to take full advantage of sunny spring skies and ample snow on Mt. Hood for their engagement session. They were not disappointed! We had a great time with them and had a lot of fun at two beautiful locations. We started off at Trillium Lake with a beautiful view of the mountain. After hiking around the lake a bit, we made our way up to Timberline Lodge to enjoy the evening light. Martin and Miki were tough as they trekked over the snow above the lodge in their sandals! We definitely appreciate it when couples we work with make that extra effort for an amazing photo–thanks guys! We are looking forward to an awesome wedding this summer!

One of the best aspects of calling the Northwest home as a photograper is the diversity of amazing locations. Beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, cool towns, pastoral valleys . . . I’m sure you’ve heard it all before (but it’s true)! One of our favorite aspects of being wedding photographers is the rare opportunity to photograph weddings of friends. I say rare, because often we don’t even get to attend friends’ weddings due to prior bookings. You may think this could be perceived as unenjoyable work to us, but it is quite the contrary. We love the opportunity to capture the spirit and moments of a wedding for all of our clients, but it is especially rewarding when you have a special connection and history with the bride and groom. All this aligned in April when we were able to photograph the wedding of our dear friends Matt & Logan on Mt. Hood!
Being avid moutain folk (Matt hails from Central Oregon, and Logan from Colorado), they chose Silcox Hut at Timberline as the epicenter for their wedding celebration. Their family and friends converged there for an intimate celebration under the stars and the peak of Mt. Hood. It encompassed everything the Oregon Cascades have to offer in spring: a little snow, a little sun, and nice conditions for a ski back to the lodge the next morning! Logan also put a ton of time into many thoughtful details that warrant their own blog post, so stay tuned for more. For the time being, we hope you enjoy some images of this amazing couple!
Nicole & Marcus recently married on a beautiful spring day, and were a pleasure to photograph. Their love and joyful spirit was evident the entire day and was hard not to capture in every image. You can tell these two really enjoy being with each other! Thank you, Marcus & Nicole, for including us in this day!

Taking full advantage of the lovely weather, we recently met up with Kristin & David for a shoot down on Portland’s riverfront. They were true naturals in front of the camera, and we had a blast. Thanks Kristin & David, we are looking forward to your wedding in May!
It has been so awesome to re-visit this wedding as we process all the images. We had such a great time with Bryan and Angela. And the light . . . . well, let’s just say it’s rare to get such wonderful light here in Oregon. It is astounding to me how it can be crisp, clear, and hold a soft glow all at the same time! It must be that Carribean air! Needless to say, we have a lot of favorites (hence the multiple blog posts)!
This installment brings us to the ceremony, and a few photos of Bryan since we dedicated an entire earlier post to his beautiful bride. Enjoy!
