Hailing from our sister city on the eastern seaboard, Nicole & Ian planned an intimate destination wedding in downtown Portland. These Brooklynites said their vows on the roof-top deck at Ecotrust in front of a small gathering of family & friends. Before their ceremony, we took a stroll through downtown visiting a few well-known landmarks & discovering others with a little ice-cream break in between. Their casual style and relaxed nature made for an ultra-fun shoot and a fantastic wedding!
For their engagement session, Christina & Matthew wanted a classic “night-at-the-theater” downtown feel. We started with drinks at the Heathman Hotel, and then hit the streets outside the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Some things never go out of style!
Tamara & Jordan’s downtown Portland wedding at The Nines represented not one, but two “firsts” for us. It was the first time we have ever experienced an acrobatic troupe’s performance at a wedding, as well as a free-style BMX show! After that it was an all-out party. Ryan also had the opportunity to shoot a day-after session with them around the rose garden in Washington Park, which proved to be an excellent choice given Tamara’s stunning red hair. The ever-talented Ashley Forrette joined us behind the lens the day of the wedding, and some of these photos are hers.
These native New-Yorkers were married in Central Park this past weekend on the 10th anniversary of their togetherness. Earlier in the week, I was fortunate enough to spend an evening with them exploring the city where they met, fell in love, and call home.
We recently spent some time with Reegan & David in their Northwest Portland neighborhood enjoying the evening & searching out gorgeous light. Well, we found plenty & had a great time making these images! Thank you both for an outstanding shoot–we are looking forward to your wedding in a few weeks!
Margi and Scott are dear friends of ours who are tying the knot in a few weeks! These two have been in front of my lens on many ski trips and forays into the backcountry, but this was a new adventure for us and equally as fun. We all met up, including their dog Quinn, on a recent evening for a few photos around their neighborhood near North Williams Avenue. The evening was beautiful, and after drinks at Pix Patisserie (the site of their first “official” date) we strolled the neighborhood shooting around all the great buildings. We wrapped up with a sunset bike ride near Portland’s Overlook Park, so stay tuned for more!
We had a great time up in Seattle this weekend photographing Lindsay & Denis’ wedding at the Lake Union Cafe. Here’s a quick look at this awesome couple and a very unique venue. Congratulatons you two!
Portland’s Classical Chinese Garden, a beautiful setting for any event, was particularly enchanting this October evening. Amidst an intimate gathering of family and friends, Emily and Brian shared their vows with each other just after sunset, under the glow of handmade paper lanterns from local artisans at the Hi-Hi Gallery. We started the day photographing at Hotel Lucia, then hailed a few pedicabs to travel to the Gardens in true Portland style.
We hope you enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed being a part of this beautiful wedding!
** Update — There were so many awesome images from this wedding that we had to post some more! Be sure to make it to the end of the post where you will see the bride’s brothers serenading the couple. They performed back-to-back a capella renditions of “Afternoon Delight” and “Almost Paradise”, complete with two-part harmonies. Needless to say, the crowed (and we) were awestruck! If we had a video, they would instantly be a YouTube sensation. **
We have been super-excited for Lindsay & Ethan’s wedding since the very first day we met with them. At that time, they described to us their plans for a unique urban wedding that immediately perked our ears. They decided to hold their ceremony and celebration on the rooftop of a parking garage in Portland’s Pearl District, with a commanding view of the river and downtown. A little unconventional? Yes, but that is exactly what we liked about it!
Fast-forward to 11 months later and Portland is facing a very stormy Labor Day weekend. During a week with lots of rain, and more forecasted for their wedding day, Lindsay & Ethan begrudingly made the call to look for a venue with a bit more shelter. A few days before the wedding, their coordinator Nadia of Creations by Ly, found a stunning venue that matched perfectly with their original intentions of using a unique and creative space. Their ceremony and celebration were held on the top floor of the newly-remodeled Fitzgibbon Glass Building, an open industrial loft with a commanding view of the Fremont Bridge.
Everyone had a wonderful time enjoying delicious food from Simpatica, and taking in the view of the stormy weather outside complete with an evening rainbow stretching across the Willamette. The bride and groom celebrated with joy and grace, never hinting their week had been full of uncertainty and quick-changes!
